Align & Dine (“we”, “our”, or “us”) is a web application that helps groups decide where to eat. We respect your privacy and are committed to protecting the limited data we collect. This policy explains what information we gather, how we use it, and your rights.
When you use Align & Dine, you may provide your location by entering an address or allowing browser geolocation. This data is used solely to find nearby restaurants and is stored temporarily in your browser’s local storage. We do not store your location on our servers beyond the duration of your session.
When you create or join a lobby, we store your lobby code, participant alias (a randomly assigned food pun name), filter preferences, and votes in our database (powered by Supabase). Lobbies expire after 30 minutes of inactivity. No real names, email addresses, or personal identifiers are collected during this process.
Your selected filters (cuisine, price range, distance, etc.) are stored in your browser’s local storage so they persist between sessions. This data never leaves your device unless you create a lobby.
We use the Google Places API to search for restaurants near your location. When you search, your location and filter preferences are sent to Google’s servers to retrieve restaurant data. Google’s use of this data is governed by the Google Privacy Policy.
We use Google AdSense to display advertisements. AdSense may use cookies and similar technologies to serve ads based on your browsing activity. You can opt out of personalized advertising by visiting Google Ad Settings.
We use Vercel Analytics and SpeedInsights to understand how our app performs and how visitors interact with it. These services collect anonymized usage data such as page views, load times, and device type. No personally identifiable information is collected.
Our database and real-time features are powered by Supabase. Supabase processes lobby data, participant aliases, and votes on our behalf. No personal information is stored beyond what is described above.
Align & Dine uses browser local storage to save your location, filter preferences, and session data. We use cookies only as required by third-party services (Google AdSense, Supabase authentication). You can clear this data at any time through your browser settings.
Lobby data (codes, participants, votes) is automatically deleted after lobby expiration (30 minutes of inactivity, with a 24-hour grace period for completed sessions). Local storage data persists until you clear your browser data or start a new session.

Align & Dine is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
